RIP Mitch Hedberg

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Right now, I’m watching the DVD “Mitch All Together” in tribute to comedian Mitch Hedberg, whom died today. It’s really unfortunate to hear of this loss. My thoughts are with his family and friends. My two favorite comedians have most always been Dane Cook and Mitch Hedberg. You can see Dane Cook’s sentiments about the loss of Mitch on his website.

You will be missed Mitch!

RE: Texas

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

Okay, I’ve been nice about Texas for the past two months. I do really enjoy Houston. I’ve been meeting really nice people. However, some things about Texas are very much what you’d imagine. I’d like to vent a little to be honest (even though they are not problems that severely effect me, merely the area’s character flaws). Some examples to follow…

With some people (even a couple AR activists that I’ve met here), they just don’t get it. By that, I mean they have their opinions about somethings (well, being from Texas, they have opinions on everything a lot of the time–which is not necessarily a poor quality to have), but they don’t have the courtesy to attempt to understand where others’ mindsets are coming from. I don’t eat meat, but I understand why most people do. I’m not particularly religious, but I attempt to understand people’s personal beliefs. I drive a small car, but I try to understand why people like SUVs (even though THEY ARE GROSS). It’s as if they always have a thick filter running over everything being said to them. Even when I’ll say “this restaurant’s food tastes good” what goes on in their head is “he’s vegan, don’t trust anything he says. Nod and smile, but remember that he’s an anti-steak terrorist.”

Long update, keeping it brief.

Sunday, March 20th, 2005

It has been over a month since I’ve given a real update to my blog and photo gallery. I finally squeezed in some time to do it today (this time would usually be spent sleeping in, as it is a Sunday, but I wanted to update my site and work on other projects, so here I am).

In the past month, so much has happened. I’ve sent out soveniers to friends, WATCHED APOLLO 13 IN MISSION CONTROL with two of the actual mission controllers, applied for 7 scholarships, got ready for class registration, decided to take a summer class online from UCF, ate at too many restaurants, bought an iPod Shuffle and iWork, got my payraise at work, almost finished my 2nd NASA project, and started 3 new websites. Most notably, I’ve met and gotten to know a wonderful girl named Rachel.

I’ll try to update more often. Sorry. For now, go check out all the new photos.
